Although Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are still often regarded as the kings of the Metroidvania subgenre, there are some really good alternatives. One of them is Timespinner from Lunar Ray Games, which was released in 2018 after a very successful Kickstarter campaign.
Now the same studio has announced the sequel, called Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream. If the first trailer and screenshots are anything to go by, it looks like we’ll be getting more of what we already love about the series as we return to the fantasy world of Surflynd with a soundtrack once again composed by Jeff Ball.
No formats other than PC have been confirmed, but it will be released to “consoles”. The first game was released for PlayStation, Switch and Xbox – so there’s a good chance that will also apply to this title.
