“Time to get to work”: Dutch former minister Ronald Plasterk officially appointed as the new scout

With a background as a molecular biologist, he now regularly shares his views in a column in De Telegraaf, in which he often distances himself from the views of the PvdA. Plasterk confirms that he will no longer write columns “as long as I have the role as scout”.

Most parties have no objections, only the Denk parties and the Party for the Animals have expressed negative views.

Denk faction leader Stephan van Baarle has already indicated that he does not wish to speak to Plasterk. “Denk will not enter into discussions with the messenger of the extreme right. Wilders’ PVV undermines the rule of law and wants to discriminate against Dutch Muslims. We believe in a resilient democracy.
