Time has gone crazy! After the “spring” weekend, we are hit by snow and…

Variable weather is expected in the next few days with irrigation rainfall and strong thermal anomalies. Another Mediterranean cyclone will pass over the Balkans, followed by a cold atmospheric front, which will initiate a cooling process with the possibility of snowfall. This is predicted by meteorologist Nikolay Vasilkovski on NOVA.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with some light spells in the early morning hours. There will be precipitation in western and southern Bulgaria during the day. Warm Mediterranean air will invade and daytime temperatures will be high for December – in the morning between 6 and 11 degrees, in the afternoon between 12 and 17 degrees. It will stay cooler in the far northwest. The wind will increase from the south-southwest, and the gusts will be particularly strong in the mountains and on the northern slopes towards the foothills.

Sunday will be cloudy, rainy and windy. During the night, from west to east, the rainy area will cover the whole country. Significant amounts of rain will fall in Rila, Pirin and Rodopi. The wind will remain particularly strong in and around the mountains and in almost all of eastern Bulgaria. Temperatures will rise a little more and in some areas will reach 20 degrees during the hottest part of the day.

After the humid but warm weekend, the atmospheric pattern will change abruptly on the first day of next week. A cold atmospheric front will pass, which will significantly lower temperatures. Monday during the day it will be between 3-4 degrees in the Northwest and 10-11 along the coast. After a temporary break during the night and until Monday morning, it will rain again in the afternoon. In the mountains, as well as in many places in Western and Northern Bulgarian regions, there will be wet snow conditions.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be cold with temperatures in the morning around and below zero, and during the day up to highs of 5-6 degrees. The rain will ease and stop on Tuesday with a tendency to show sunshine briefly. However, it will rain and snow again in the evening and on Wednesday.

Temperatures will rise Thursday through the end of the week, with most of the precipitation due to rain. Colder air will invade from the north and warmer Mediterranean air masses will arrive from the south. North of Stara planina it will remain colder with the possibility of snowfall, while in the south it will mostly rain.
