TikTok reportedly will extend the length of the video that can be uploaded by its users. Social media consultant, Matt Navarra says the application is of origin China TikTok is in the middle of extending the video’s duration by up to three minutes.
Currently, TikTok allows users to upload videos with a duration of up to one minute. Short duration is a concept that exists to encourage consumption and user engagement over videos that are too long.
On the other hand, many users have indeed requested that TikTok extend the duration of the video that can be uploaded.
Navarra says this feature is still in early testing. Navarra also noted that this feature will be available on mobile and desktop applications.
Navarra hasn’t revealed when TikTok will roll out an extension of the video duration, but this feature is certainly worth paying attention to for TikTok users.
Keep in mind, the one minute video duration on TikTok has proven to be more successful. That’s longer than Vine, but shorter than most YouTube videos.
