Tikhanovsky offered Lukashenko immunity / Day

During his visit to Slovakia, Tikhanovsky said that Lukashenko could not be forgiven for his crimes, but was aware that his immunity should be part of the talks on the transfer of power.

“If the solution is for him to go to sea somewhere and spend time there, then that is acceptable,” Tikhanovsky said.

During his visit to Bratislava, he met with Foreign Minister Ivan Korčka, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations, political scientists and journalists.

This week, Tikhanovsky met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.

Protests against the rigging of the presidential election have been reported in Belarus for two months now. Several thousand people have been detained and several hundred injured during the protests.

According to the official results of the presidential election in Belarus on August 9, the current head of state Lukashenko won 80.1% of the vote, and the opposition candidate Tikhanovska – 10.1%, but the opposition believes that the election results are fake and Tikhanovsky won the election convincingly.

The EU and other Western countries have also refused to recognize the election results.
