“This year, it can be said that the number of cases of diseases transmitted by dengue is quite high. This is a concern,” said Ning, as he is familiarly called, Thursday (11/11)

He said from the report data received, until November 10, 2021, there were 39 cases of dengue fever in Bengawan City. And of these five people died.

“As many as 39 cases five people died. This is quite a lot,” he said.

He said, compared to last year’s data, the number was indeed less, but the DHF mortality rate this year was much higher than last year.

“In 2020, the number of cases recorded was 73 people and three people died,” he said

Asked about the higher death rate due to dengue this year compared to last year, Ning said that he had not made further observations, but it could be due to the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The death rate due to DHF did occur during the peak of wave 2 of COVID-19, namely June and August,” he said.

He estimated that the increase in cases occurred because at that time the number of COVID-19 cases was high. In addition, because when he was taken to the hospital the patient was already seriously ill.

Ning said his party mobilized health cadres coordinated by each Puskesmas in the region to promote socialization to the community, especially to promote the eradication of mosquito nests (PSN). This is a preventive measure.

“We ask the public to be aware of the spread of dengue disease until March next year,” he concluded. (Ismail/Central Java)
