Through this route, the cabinet hopes to emerge from the corona crisis NOW

Now that the number of new infections with the coronavirus and the pressure on healthcare has been decreasing for some time, the Cabinet has decided that it is time to relax measures. From the opening of terraces to the reopening of sports and sex clubs: this is the route by which the cabinet hopes to get out of the corona crisis.

The cabinet emphasizes that if it really has to be possible to relax, the conditions for the number of infections must not have increased enormously and that care can still withstand the pressure for any date on the planned route.

11 May:

  • Most contact professions can be executed again. Hairdressers, beauticians, pedicures, opticians and driving instructors can get back to work, provided they carry out their work as far as 1.5 meters away. Customers must be without complaints, not belonging to the risk group and make an appointment in advance.
  • Everyone can exercise outside again, including adults. However, athletes must keep a distance of 1.5 meters from each other and there is still a ban on contact sports. Showering is done at home and matches are not played.
  • Libraries open.
  • Primary schools open and students go to school half the time. Special education opens completely. Childcare and out-of-school care will also open.

1 June

  • Public transport again runs according to the full timetable, but with 40 percent of the capacity. Wearing a non-medical mouth mask is mandatory. Travelers must provide their own face masks. Anyone who does not wear a face mask in the public transport will receive a fine. It is not yet known how high this fine is.
  • Secondary education is reopened.
  • Catering establishments will open. Customers must all sit at a table and keep at least 1.5 meters away from others. A maximum of thirty persons, including staff, may be in a catering establishment.
  • Cinemas, museums and monuments also open, but the same rules apply as in the catering industry: a maximum of thirty people at a time, everyone 1.5 meters apart and visitors must book in advance.

June 15:

  • In secondary vocational education (MBO), practical exams can be taken again and lessons can be given.

July 1st:

  • Shower and toilet areas at campsites and holiday parks can open again.
  • Instead of thirty, a hundred people may be present in the catering and cultural institutions at the same time. This also applies to church services, weddings and congresses.

1st of September:

  • Gyms, saunas, sports canteens, coffee shops and casinos can open again. Sex workers can also get back to work.
  • Contact sports and indoor sports can be performed by anyone again. Athletes can play matches again, and that also applies to professional football.

After September 1:

  • The government has not yet announced a plan for events that attract a lot of public, such as festivals and concerts. A decision will be taken before 1 September.
  • The government has not given an exact date, but people will have to work from home as much as possible in the coming months.
