Three people suffered gunshot wounds in Rotterdam riots

During last night’s riots in Rotterdam, not two but three people were injured by a bullet. This is reported by the police tonight. They are all three in hospital. A spokesperson could not say whether there were life-threatening injuries.

Earlier, four injuries were reported by bullets, but that turned out to be a misunderstanding.

Around the riots, according to the police, 51 rioters have been arrested. Part of this group has since been released.

When asked whether the three were all hit by police bullets, the spokesman replied that there are “no signs that shots have been fired from the crowd”. She also could not confirm that the injuries were caused by police bullets. The National Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case.

An officer ended up in hospital with a broken thigh. Dozens of police officers suffered minor injuries and hearing damage from fireworks and rocks thrown at them.
