In Nottingham, much of the inner city has been closed for some time due to an “ongoing serious incident”. According to the police, three dead people were found on the street early this morning. The police then went looking for the driver of a van, who then tried to run over three people elsewhere in the city. Those people are now injured in the hospital.
In a press statement the police are talking about a “terrible and tragic incident that claimed the lives of three people. We believe that all these things are connected.”
A 31-year-old man has been arrested. It is not known whether this is the driver of the van. He is suspected of murder.
All tram lines in the English city have been shut down for the time being. Many police officers and members of other emergency services are present. The National Inter-Agency Liaison Officers (NILO) is also present, coordinating the deployment of the police, fire brigade and ambulances.
People are being urged to avoid the closed area because “it will remain closed for a long time,” said local police chief Neil Humphries.
