Three people died after a house fire outside Herrljunga

The alarm about the fire came at 01.45 on the night of Monday. When the emergency services arrived at the scene, it turned out that there was a heavy fire in the upper floor of the house.

– Three fire stations are involved and around twenty firefighters are participating in the extinguishing work, says Martin Ekdahl who is deputy rescue manager in Herrljunga.

No suspicions of arson

A mother and a ten-year-old girl managed to get out of the house. They are physically unharmed, but shocked, according to the police.

It is unclear what started the fire. The police have started a preliminary investigation into aggravated arson, but there are currently no suspicions that the fire was set.

– We were met by extreme heat and heavy smoke on the second floor and the attic when we arrived, says Martin Ekdahl.
