Three new women tell story about Flemish TV maker Bart De Pauw | Abroad

Nine women are asking for compensation. It concerns Maaike Cafmeyer, Liesa Naert, Catherine Ongenae, Elle-june Henrard, Dymphne Poppe, Jenka Van De Voorde, Helena De Craemer, Lize Feryn and Ellen Lloyd, Flemish media report. They are ‘civil party’ as the Belgians call it.

There are also four women in the case with the legal status of ‘victim’. They told their story, but did not demand compensation. So now there are three new, additional supporting testimonials from women who have reported to the lawyer. They would have received sexually explicit text messages.

Bart De Pauw has to appear in court for harassment and stalking with electronic means of communication. At the beginning of November 2017, the TV maker and presenter himself announced that the VRT had stopped working with him after complaints about transgressive behavior by various women with whom he had worked.

To cry

The bomb around De Wever explodes in 2017 when Maaike Cafmeyer, one of the nine, encounters a young actress in the box of the VRT. The young woman cries and says that she has not been able to sleep at night because Bart De Pauw is stalking her 24 hours a day by text message. Highly explicit sexual texting in which he wants much more than just directing. He wants to fuck, he texts, among other things. The young actress does not know what to do.

The scene reminds Cafmeyer of what she herself experienced thirteen years earlier, during the cult program The De Pauw family. It was there that a friendship arose between Cafmeyer and De Pauw. bosom friends. The two appear several times on the red carpet, so to speak as husband and wife. Which they will play a little later in the humorous series. She: the naive, jealous and lazy woman. He: the TV star with small and big BV manners. But De Pauw also goes too far.

Is he still busy, Cafmeyer wonders years later next to the crying young actress. “Maaike felt responsible for all those young women who had become victims in the years before,” a source told Het Nieuwsblad. “At that moment she decided to take further steps and to approach the confidential adviser of the VRT.” So far and no further, Cafmeyer reasoned that evening.

The trial against De Pauw will start on October 13.
