Three new suspects of riots after Brussels BLM demonstration …

The Brussels local police has arrested three men suspected of involvement in the riots that took place after the demonstration against racism and police violence on June 7 in Brussels.

The three are part of the twelve people to whom an investigation message was distributed on July 15. Two of them presented themselves to the police, the third was arrested by the police of the zone where he lives. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office reports this.

On June 7, a demonstration against racism and police violence took place on Place Poelaert in Brussels, under the banner of Black Lives Matter, following the death of George Floyd during an arrest in the United States. The demonstration, in which an estimated 10,000 people took part, went without problems, but subsequently resulted in violence and riots. Shops were also looted here and there and the police arrested 239 people.

Other suspects had already been arrested before. In recent days, KN (22) and IJ (19) presented themselves to the Brussels local police. The 26-year-old CMN was then arrested by the local police of the Flemish police zone where he lives. All three would have pelted the police with various projectiles, while IJ would also have destroyed a bus stop.

KN was released after questioning, CMN received a direct summons to the criminal court, while IJ is brought before the investigating judge.
