Regensburg – Three more corona cases have occurred at SSV Jahn Regensburg. As the second division soccer team announced on request, the infections were discovered during a follow-up test during the week.
The outbreak of Sars-CoV-2 in the Upper Palatinate affected a total of eleven members of the professional team, i.e. players, coaches or supervisors. The “Mittelbayerische Zeitung” had previously reported and specified that the British Corona variant was found six times in the eleven cases.
The three newly infected people have been in quarantine since Monday like the rest of the team, said a club spokesman. No new cases were discovered in further tests on Friday.
Due to the corona outbreak, the DFB Cup quarter-finals between Jahn and Werder Bremen had to be canceled on Tuesday and postponed to April 7th. Two second division games have also been rescheduled: The home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth was pushed back four days to March 17th (6.30 p.m.). The guest appearance at VfL Osnabrück planned for this weekend, however, only increases one week after the Jahn Cup game on April 14th in Lower Saxony.
