Three companies opt for the installation of the new photovoltaic solar plant of the TUS

The performance has a budget of almost 94,000 euros

SANTANDER, 14 (EUROPA PRESS)

Three companies opted for the contract to carry out the installation works of the new 100 kW photovoltaic plant for self-consumption without surpluses for the new headquarters of the municipal urban transport service of Santander (TUS), for a budget of 93,689 euros.

This was announced this Saturday, in a statement, by the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility, César Díaz, who stressed that the Camarreal garages will become the first municipal headquarters in Santander with an installation of this type.

“With this solar plant we will avoid the emission of 37 tons of CO2 per year or, what is the same, the consumption of about 10 tons of oil equivalent”, he highlighted.

The future solar plant will have a power of 100 kW and will be capable of producing electricity for self-consumption without surpluses, using panels that will cover the entire available surface on the flat roof of the administration building and on the southern part of the roof of the workshop.

Regarding the installation, the service has analyzed different configuration alternatives for the plant, the surfaces to be occupied, the angles of inclination of the panels, the photovoltaic solar production obtained, the amortization of the investment or the carbon footprint and emissions reduction.

“We continue to improve municipal facilities, betting on energy efficiency projects that allow us to advance in the sustainability of the service and in the modernization of the TUS, because beyond the fleet we want it to be a cutting-edge service at a global level in terms of energy savings” , has added.

The mayor has valued that this improvement is added to those already existing in the garage facilities, prepared to facilitate internal mobility and the movement of any vehicle without the need to move others, direct access of vehicles to their parking place or repair operations, fuel filling, vehicle cleaning, etc.

Díaz has also emphasized the modernization process in which the service is immersed and has referred to both the fleet of vehicles and the new headquarters or actions such as the recent tender for the supply for the incorporation of new canopies in stops that lack of them.

Lastly, he recalled the projects underway charged to European funds for the renovation of canopy panels or the development of new apps and the service’s website.
