Threatening footbridge in Saint-Priest: Boulevard Porte des Alpes closed

Security work will be carried out urgently on a threatening footbridge in Saint-Priest. As a result, the Boulevard de la Porte des Alpes will be closed from October 8 to 15 for a portion of a few hundred meters between the rue du Dauphiné and the Allée du Parc. Deviations are put in place.

Access to the footbridge is also prohibited. “Following the detection of structural disorders on the footbridge which connects the Feuilly forest and the Lumière Lyon 2 / Parilly campus, which could create a risk for users, it was decided to close access to this structure”, explains the Métropole de Lyon via a press release.

The Metropolis of Lyon evokes “a potential for deep rotting “

“The footbridge connecting the Feuilly forest and the Lumière Lyon 2 / Parilly campus, built in 2004 and passing over the Boulevard Urbain Est (BUE), is experiencing severe degradation, with cracked glued laminated timber load-bearing arches and potential rotting in depth, which may pose a risk to users “, details collectivity.

The latter is therefore launching a series of works to consolidate the footbridge as a matter of urgency. “A load recovery device for the deck, with props, profiles will be installed”, specifies the Métropole de Lyon.
