The German coach also just found out that the President’s Cup is so crowded. According to him, the pre-season tournament was not ideal for the participating clubs. The winning team might run out of gas for League 1.
“They should think about this. Not good for all clubs in the middle of preparation (playing solid). I’m starting to understand now, maybe this is a tradition in Indonesia, but for players, believe me, this is not good,” he continued.

As is known, Persija entered Group B in the 2022 Presidential Cup with Borneo FC, Rans Nusantara FC, Barito Putera and Madura United. They will start their work in the pre-season tournament by facing Barito Putera on 18 June in Samarinda.

Thomas himself brought a total of 35 players and divided them into two teams. “For the first two matches Persija will use a youth team as well as three trial players from Japan. I think young players still need guidance from more senior players,” he said.
“With a schedule that is too busy, I think it’s too risky for the team. We know Hamra is injured, so we don’t want any more injured players. I am happy that the club management allowed me to use two different teams in this tournament,” concluded Thomas Doll.
