This Netflix documentary just broke a record and deserves your full attention – News Séries

The Blood of the Murdaughs: Scandal in South Carolina thrills Netflix subscribers around the world to the point of breaking a viewing record.

Very few French media followed the release of the documentary series Le Sang des Murdaugh on Netflix but on the other side of the Atlantic, millions of subscribers were passionate about the story of this family which hides many secrets.

To the point of making it one of the most watched programs in the world today. With 40 million hours viewed in just one week, it ranks second in the rankings, just behind Outer Banks. Better, it has just pulverized a record: that of the best launch for a documentary.

But what is it actually about? The three episodes of Blood of the Murdaugh tell how a wealthy South Carolina family is closely linked to several cases, including that of the murder of a young woman during a supposed boating accident. The patriarch is a well-liked lawyer who suffers from financial problems and who believes himself above the law.

If the story and the format of this true crime is unfortunately nothing exceptional, its success is probably explained for a reason: the trial of one of the members of the Murdaugh family opened at the end of January in the United States. United and is currently continuing. We will keep the name of this member and the crimes he committed, since everything is recounted in the Netflix documentary.

The series has not created a buzz in our country, and there are currently only about ten ratings and a single review on its AlloCiné page:

A particularly sordid affair where, still in 2020, even in the USA, the stakes of power, influence and money demonstrate the ruthless cogs above the law. There are only 3 episodes, it’s fast and quite well shot, even if we regret the “reality TV” and “show” side. (Byrlthek)

But if you are a fan of true crime, then Blood of the Murdaugh is for you.
