This meme from Cannes is popping up everywhere: the cutest versions on…

For the film premiere of The French dispatch in Cannes, the director and a few lead actors posed neatly next to each other during the press moment. That in itself is not so special, but because of their striking outfits, the photo now has a life of its own on the internet …

When new films are presented in Cannes, directors and stars traditionally come together in front of the press present during a photo call. For the screening of The French dispatch, who was rewarded with a nine-minute standing ovation afterwards, it was no different. Sounding names including Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro, Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray were present in the southern French seaside town.

It is the latter three and the director himself that provide one of the most talked about press photos of the event. What’s more: one of the images, taken during the shoot, is making it all over as a meme online. The power of the image is in the clothing choices of the stars, especially the fact that the looks embody certain types that everyone knows. From left to right: Timothée Chalamet embodies the young hipster, director Wes Anderson represents the style of an intellectual dandy, Tilda Swinton looks like she’s from the future and Bill Murray looks like a retired bon vivant.

Meanwhile, creative souls come up with all kinds of funny captions for the snapshot. For example, according to one Jessica Shortall, Chalamet’s look is ideal for TikTok, Anderson’s for LinkedIn, while a Swinton look scores well on Instagram.
