The latest in the case against the four police officers facing charges for the death of George Floyd. Three of the 4 police officers accused of contributing to his death appeared before a judge asking for bail. Thomas Lane, Alexander Kueng and Tou Taho appeared dressed in the orange city jail uniform. Thao’s lawyer argued that his client deserves bail because in addition to having family roots in the community, he cooperated with authorities investigating the case and surrendered as soon as his arrest warrant was issued. When it was Alexander Kueng’s turn, his lawyer said the former police officer confronted his supervisor at the scene, Derek Chauvin, who is seen kneeling over George Floyd, saying that he could not do that. The lawyer also acknowledged the pain of Floyd’s family and offered his condolences. Finally, Thomas Lane’s attorney said his client cooperated with investigators, in addition to asking the supervisor to turn Floyd over so he could breathe. The attorney said that was only Lane’s fourth day as a police officer and that he was only holding Floyd’s legs on orders. All three had bail set at a million dollars.
