The end of the Galaxy Note smartphone series has been announced on the Internet several times (incl. after the high-profile scandal with lighting up batteries in Note 7), however, Samsung overcame adversity and the series survived on the market for over 9 years. Recently, the planned withdrawal of the Korean brand from producing Galaxy Note is getting louder and louder and there are many indications that Samsung has reasons to consider it.

Will Samsung end the Galaxy Note series?

About the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra presented in August may be the last representatives of the series have been spoken for a long time. Of course, Samsung has never confirmed (or denied) these revelations, but subsequent sources suggest that the Koreans could have already made a decision.

In mid-November, more information appeared saying that a Korean company probably not working over any smartphone from the Note seriesalthough such works usually appear many months before the planned debut.

Now your report on this topic was published by Reuters. As the agency explains, relying on several of its sources close to the case, Samsung is to end the sale of Galaxy Note series smartphones next year. According to the informants, this is primarily due to the sharp decline in interest in premium smartphones in connection with the global crisis caused by the pandemic.

Reuters agency sources also say that the company’s efforts are now focused primarily on more smartphones from the foldable Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. What’s more, the stylus – a hallmark of the Galaxy Note series – is to be sold as an accessory for the upcoming Galaxy S21 flagship, which is scheduled to debut in the spring.

One, last model

It also provides similar revelations on this subject Korean etnews website. The information he obtained also shows that Samsung will expire the Note series next year and add stylus support to the upcoming Galaxy S21.

Interestingly, however – according to etnews – another galactic notebook will be created next year – the Galaxy Note 21. For now, however, nothing more is known about it, except that it would be offered only in one (and not traditionally two) versions. It should be remembered, however, that this information is not yet certain (and that it contradicts the information of other sources) and even if Samsung is considering the Note 21, it does not mean that it will actually release it.

These plans make sense

Anyway, it must be admitted that plans to abandon the Galaxy Note series – unless, of course, unofficial information is confirmed – can make a lot of sense. Firstly, because the differences between the two main premium series – Galaxy S and Galaxy Note – have blurred. The screens in smartphones from both series are now very similar in size, and the Notes have already lost their business character.

If even one version of the Galaxy S21 actually supports the S-Pen stylus, customers will lose the most important argument to bet on the next Note. Anyway, the Galaxy S series is much more popular among customers.

Secondly, in times of crisis, maintaining as many as three series of “flagship”, hellishly expensive premium smartphones makes little sense. This year Samsung released a foldable smartphone (for almost PLN 9,000) Galaxy Z Fold 2, which is the second and – almost certainly – not the last representative of the new business series. It also functions nearby The “fashion” line of foldable Galaxy Z Flip smartphones, which are also not cheap.

So it looks like the rapid development of foldable Galaxy Folds may have been the nail in the coffin of galactic notebooks. Will you miss them?
