Chile has dethroned Asian countries and positioned itself as the country with the fastest fixed Internet in the world in 2022, with an average speed of 216.46 Mbps, unveils the new Speedtest global indexprepared by Ookla.

In 2021, Chile finished as runners-up in measuring fixed internet speed with 173 Mbps, surpassed by Singapore. One year later he managed to take first place and also improve the average speed level.

It was followed by United Arab Emirates with 139.41, Norway (132.54), South Korea (118.76), Denmark (113.44), China (109.40), Holland (109.06), Macau (106.38), Bulgaria (103.29) a Brunei (102.06).

Brazil ranked 60th in the list of fastest mobile broadband. The rest of the Latin American countries were below that range, and above Chile ranked up to 73rd place.
Mobile internet speed has grown 17% over the past year. According to the Ookla report, most of the countries that led the measurement in fixed internet were also among the top positions in fixed broadband.
The report notes that improvements in mobile service were also related to the diffusion of more modern technologies, in particular 5G networks, because operators around the world are making significant investments to launch new commercial services and expand their reach.
