On February 5, the embargo on oil from Russia entered into force. How has the market reacted to this? Surprisingly, the price of diesel has gone down while that of EU95 petrol has gone up.

How do prices at stations behave after the embargo on petroleum products came into force? It turns out that the price of diesel fuel has fallen. On January 10, a liter cost an average of PLN 0.21 more than a month later. On February 10, drivers of cars with diesel engines paid an average of PLN 7.44 per liter of fuel, according to the Polish Chamber of Liquid Fuels.

At the same time, the prices of EU95 petrol increased. A month ago, a liter usually cost PLN 6.56, now you have to spend PLN 6.67.

LPG is also more expensive – by PLN 0.12. Now the average price per liter is PLN 3.21.

Does this mean that the danger of sudden increases in diesel prices is behind us? Experts warned that the real market “check” will come at the end of February or March, and the weakest link in the whole process may turn out to be logistics in the country. Urszula Cieślak, an analyst at Reflex, recently explained to Business Insider that after the entry into force of the embargo, the oil contracted earlier will still be on the market. This may explain why oil prices are currently falling.
