3.56 points less participation than in April
Participation at two in the afternoon in the elections this Sunday is 37.93 percent, which is 3.56 points less than in the general elections of April 28 at the same time (41.49 percent) , and the decrease is registered in all the autonomous regions and autonomous cities.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Isabel Goicoechea, and the Secretary of State for Communication, Miguel Ángel Oliver, have offered these data at a press conference at the Ifema Data Center.
It is the official data with 99.99 percent of votes: 13,225,063, as detailed on the election website.
Participation has dropped in all regions, especially the Balearic Islands, with a decrease from 38.10 on April 28 to 30.95 percent (7.15 points), and in Asturias, where it has fallen from 40 , 15 to 34.42.
The Secretary of State for Communication has explained that these are data similar to those recorded in the 2011 or 2015 elections, which were “normal, according to the times marked by democracy.”
The day continues running normally, without notable incidents, although the Undersecretary of State for the Interior has highlighted that two people have died, one in the province of Granada and the other in Guipúzcoa, after suffering separate heart attacks in their electoral schools.
Goicoechea has offered condolences to the family and friends of these deceased voters.
Another incident has been a landslide in San Esteban de Cuñaba (Principality of Asturias), which has affected a highway, so its clearance is being facilitated so that several dozen residents can go to vote.
In Bellver de Cerdanya, in Lleida, a school has opened 45 minutes late and the Electoral Board has decreed that it remain open until 8:45 p.m., Goicoechea said
