This is how transport in San Antonio begins to work today

After the protests made by the Transportadora de San Antonio Cootransoccidente company, in which they expressed their dissatisfaction with the growth of illegal transport and how it has affected their economy, a meeting was held with the union and the municipal mayor’s office.

In this one that took place last week, several points were taken into account that will take effect from this week in order to provide the best possible service to the inhabitants of the municipality, especially those in rural areas, who They are the ones that have the most difficulty getting around.

The local president, Jorge Iván Vásquez Martínez, expressed that the idea was to allow both officials and non-officials to have the right to work, for which four points were established.

“The first of them is that both motorcycles and motorcycles and motorcycle taxis should be organized in association so that in this way the number of people who work in this economic activity is limited,” he said.

Likewise, the second has to do with the fact that they were granted a maximum of two months to comply with the requirements to mobilize, such as having up-to-date driving licenses, compulsory insurance and technomechanical review.

And as for Coontransoccidente, they should expand the number of frequencies with which they visit the sidewalks, and in this way users should not have only the motorcycle or motorcycle taxi service to move.

Within the agreements it was established that there are three village points that will not be able to visit the unofficial transport. All this was signed in a minute.

User dissatisfaction

It should be taken into account that coffee producers and farmers have been among the most affected by the lack of transportation, because according to users, since the pandemic began, the transport company limited its services to only weekends; for this reason, they had to resort to illegal transport and still had many drawbacks.

“Here comes a motorcycle car when it feels like it, the other cars from Contransoccidente are the same, they pass by and if they want they pick us up and if not. We are the ones who are carrying the bundle, ”said José Pérez, a coffee farmer living in La Quinta.

On several occasions José has left around six in the morning in order to take the product to the square and manages to get transportation until noon or 2 in the afternoon, which has meant that on many occasions he has to return with the complete product or leave it on credit because buyers no longer have the money to buy it.

Eduardo Olaya, a farmer from the village of El Cural, joined the complaint and said that since transportation was reduced to only weekends, people began to use the illegal service, also because the prices are more reasonable. “It is much more convenient to pay a motorcycle taxi and not an express, at least to move a sick person.”
