This is how long the corona virus stays on surfaces and in the air

The pathogen is not only transmitted through the air.

The fight against the corona virus requires special hygiene in order not to become infected. A new study by the “National Institute of Health” in Montana (USA) now shows how long the virus can survive outside the body.

Accordingly, the pathogen can remain in the air for up to three hours if a sick person coughs. The virus sometimes sticks to surfaces even longer, as the study published on Wednesday shows.

The corona virus can survive up to four hours on copper – about a day on cardboard. With other surfaces, however, the virus remains dangerous for infections for longer. The coronavirus remains infectious on plastic or steel surfaces after two or three days.

For hygiene: The US study shows that cleaning with diluted bleaching agent kills the virus.
