As expected, new corona measures were announced today by Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Hugo de Jonge. The bottom line is that we have to retreat back into our shells because the corona virus is still out of control. “Thanks to the students,” said the cabinet.

After an exhausting press conference (see at the very bottom of this message, from minute 44, yawn) it might be nice to have the most important facts at a glance:

• Children up to the age of 13 do not need to be tested for (corona) complaints. To benefit Jesse Klaver (elections 2021) Children with a snot nose no longer need to stay at home.

• Most infections (10 percent according to Rutte) take place at work. The advice therefore remains: Stay at home as much as possible and still avoid the office.

• Do not meet with more than six guests. Not indoors and not outdoors.

• Weddings, and it does not matter whether Minister Grapperhaus is present or not, are only allowed within the regions of Amsterdam-Amstelland, Rotterdam-Rijnmond, Haaglanden (The Hague), Utrecht, Kennemerland (Haarlem) and Hollands Midden (Leiden). ‘welcome fifty guests, instead of a hundred.

• There are also exceptions within these regions. Demonstrations, funerals and religious gatherings are turned a blind eye.

• This does not apply to the catering industry within these regions. From now on, they have to switch on the lights at midnight and are no longer allowed to serve snacks and drinks. By 1 am, all operators of the ‘participating areas’ must have worked out the matter for their customers.

• Amsterdam will close public parks at night to prevent illegal parties.

• In The Hague and environs they will focus on extra enforcement. Catering establishments in the Hofstad will therefore not escape an inspection.

• A real competition is going on in Rotterdam. The person with the best idea to contain corona (among young people) is claiming 10,000 euros, awarded by Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb.
