This applies to the office from today

The Federal Council has lifted the home office requirement. Likewise, a mask no longer has to be worn at the workplace, and testing is no longer necessary.

Last week, the Federal Council announced various easing – one of them affects the world of work: The home office obligation is no longer required and will be converted into a recommendation. So from today you can go back to the office.

The general mask requirement at work has also been lifted. It is now up to the employer to decide where it is appropriate to wear a mask. Masks may not be used in offices if employers allow it. Because they are responsible for safety in the workplace.

The return from the home office is also not tied to an obligation to test. There is no longer an obligation to perform repetitive testing.

Bringing employees back step by step

So are people flocking to the offices again on Monday? The employers definitely welcome the decision. The employers’ association, for example, describes the step as “long overdue”, and the lifting of the mask requirement is also “logical”.

Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that the majority of employees will flow into the office again from today. Many people don’t want to go back until after the summer vacation, writes “20 minutes”. Then everyone who wants that should be vaccinated twice. A HR expert therefore recommends bringing employees back to the office step by step.

Especially vulnerable people could be left in the home office for the time being. The Association of Employees Switzerland, for example, calls on companies to continue to enable their employees to work from home and to continue to voluntarily test their employees on site on a regular basis.

In any case, many companies want to continue hybrid driving and let their employees work mobile at least one or two days a week, according to a survey by “blue News” at the beginning of June.

Public transport companies are ready

The SBB assumes that from next week there will be more commuters again, as media spokeswoman Jeannine Egi says on request. “The public transport companies are ready,” she emphasizes. An increase in the number of passengers is already noticeable in leisure traffic.

All trains have been in use during the day for a long time. With the commissioning of the night networks on the first weekend in July, the entire public transport timetable will be run again, says Egi: “Those who adhere to the protection concept can travel safely and sustainably by public transport to work and during their leisure time.”
