Third party app required to record ProRes video with M2 Ipad Pro

The Japanese site MacOtakarathrough from 9 to 5 Macnow detects that a third party app is required to record ProRes video with the new M2 Ipad Pro.

The site must have confirmed everything using the third-party Filmic Pro app. In the app it is then possible to use ProRes 709 and ProRes 2020 to record with 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second for the 128 gigabyte model and 4k resolution for the 256 gigabyte model.

ProRes video cannot be turned on in the iPad Camera app. Something that, on the other hand, is possible for iPhones with ProRes support.

Why Apple chose to do so is unknown. It is also not known whether Apple will change this in the future and make ProRes videos natively available on the M2 Ipad Pro.
