Thionville | Hobbies. Canceled appointments

The organization of the Christmas celebrations had to be reviewed in order to better respect the health protocol. Measures that could well be turned upside down depending on the evolution of the pandemic. In the meantime, the City has taken the decision to cancel certain appointments.

The great Christmas parade

Since its establishment six years ago, the Great Christmas Parade has undoubtedly emerged as the unmissable event of the end-of-year festivities in Thionville. Unfortunately, this year it will not take place as the rules of distancing cannot be decently observed during the event. In figures, in 2019 alone, it had seen an influx of nearly 20,000 people who came to see the sixteen floats and some two hundred costumed extras.

The parade of Saint-Nicolas

Saint Nicholas will also have to pass his turn. Unfortunately, the patron saint of children and the associations behind the making of the floats that accompany him will not parade this year either.

The rink

It was the end of year meeting for several years: the ice rink will also be absent this year.

In the current health context, it is impossible to maintain this chalet, where 6,856 people met in 2019.
