Think in terms of election program: Minister of Inclusivity and the ban on Zwarte Piet

Political party Denk wants a definitive deal with racism and discrimination. “Our battle is only over when every Netherlands, regardless of skin color, origin, sexuality, gender or any characteristic, can simply get the full potential out of his or her life”, according to the election program ‘Think different’.

Denk’s second election program is largely about diversity. “Unfortunately, everything that now has to do with diversity is being problematized. Despite the demonstrable progress that Dutch people with a migrant background have made, a link is made time and again between origins and problems in society.”

That must change, says the party, which wants to allocate 1 billion euros to combat discrimination and comes up with a whole battery of proposals that should contribute to this. For example, there must be a Minister of Inclusivity and a legal ban on Zwarte Piet in public space. There must be a racism register and people who are included in it are no longer allowed to work for the government.

Fight anti-Semitism

The Dutch government must formally apologize for the colonial and slavery past and there must be programs to combat anti-Semitism and Muslim hatred. Furthermore, Denk advocates flexible inclusion of public holidays, so that employees can celebrate their own religious feasts and are not obliged to have Christmas or Easter off. The party also wants ritual slaughter to remain a right.

In the election manifesto, Denk also stands up for healthcare. The working conditions of the staff must improve structurally. In addition, more should be done to prevent ailments and diseases. The age at which you can buy alcohol and tobacco must go to 21 years. There must be a contribution towards the costs of sports, the deductible must disappear and the health insurance premium must be drastically reduced.

In the education section, Denk writes that the smear against Islamic education must end, that there must be sufficient imam training and that the salaries of teachers must be increased, starting in primary education. In addition, the government must offer an internship guarantee for young people.

Lifelong for child abuse

And then Think, among other things, that the minimum wage goes up, that rent increases are curbed, that there are more affordable homes and that the state pension age is not raised any further. The party of party leader Farid Azarkan also believes, for example, that Palestine should be recognized as a state and that child molesters should be given a life sentence.

The elections are in mid-March. Denk now has three seats in the House of Representatives. In the last Polling Guide, a weighted average of various polls, the party stands at one to three seats.
