iPadOS will probably show increased multitasking as a laptop replacement.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Apple is holding its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC. In this event Apple will showcase the latest versions of its operating system for iPhone, Mac, watches, tablets and TVs. But what new features will Apple’s new software bring? Is the company planning a big surprise?
To get an idea of what to expect at Apple’s upcoming keynote event on June 6, 2022, here are a few things that may be offered at the event:
IOS and IpadOS16 get New Look and Better Notification System.
Technology Reporter Mark Gurman reviews Apple products and estimates that iOS 16 will come with “new Apple apps.” Gurman also predicts “a new way to interact” with iOS.
For iPadOS 16, he specifically pointed out the multitasking improvements that could make this lineup a bit better as a laptop replacement.
He predicts that it’s also possible that Apple will overhaul the notification system, which could mean that the company builds on the Focus mode introduced with iOS 15. Gurman also said that iOS 16 could bring an always-on lock screen.
“If his prediction that the lock screen gets ‘widget-like capabilities’ is correct, I’d see it as a pretty strong indicator of an always-on iPhone 14,” said Gurman.
Gurman predicts the feature will be exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro.
New Versions of WatchOS and macOS
As usual, there aren’t many rumors about watchOS, but Apple is pretty consistent with what it adds to the Apple Watch every year. Starting from some new fitness/health features, new workouts you can track, and new watch faces.
9to5Mac also reports that there may be low power modes like the iPhone that offer more usability than the current power backup mode, which basically just shows the time.
“We could potentially see accessibility features that Apple previewed earlier this month, including expanded Assistive Touch gestures that let you move your finger to do things like end calls, take pictures, and control media or exercise.”
Two New Macs
The current rumors are also coming from Mark Gurman which says Apple will introduce at least two new Mac computers. That prediction comes alongside the entire roster of computers that Apple is reportedly working on, including a new Mac Pro, a completely updated line of laptops, and a Mac Mini or two.
There have been rumors of a redesigned MacBook Air for a while, and Apple has promised to introduce the Mac Pro with Apple silicon. The latter seems ripe for a WWDC announcement.
