On Monday, October 4, at 8 a.m., four gendarmes from the Thiaucourt-Regniéville and Pagny-sur-Moselle brigade, chosen by the Toul company, will set off from the Thiaucourt gendarmerie for a five-day journey in front of the drive to Reims where, on October 9, they will hand over a check to the Roseau association providing assistance to children suffering from leukemia or cancer. “We will cover approximately 1,000 kilometers in five days. There will be three runners and one cyclist. We will pass through Chaumont, Dijon, Montluçon, Orléans and Paris, where a check will be given to the orphans of the gendarmerie. Arrival will be in Reims where another check will be given to the Roseau association. Police schools will participate in the collection and students will run a few kilometers with us, ”reveals Chief Warrant Officer David Garcia. And to support this great cause, the local gendarmes received the support of a dozen sponsors including the Carrefour de Thiaucourt-Regniéville, Antonio pizza in Essey-et-Maizerais, Chris-Auto de Pagny-sur-Moselle, the Community of communes of Mad and Moselle, the municipality of Thiaucourt-Regniéville as well as the associations AC.EF, Gendarmes de cœur and Veterans solidarity. Of course, such an adventure requires some preparation. Thus, for a month and a half, Chief Warrant Officer Garcia and his three colleagues have been preparing intensively for this challenge. But remember that the gendarmes naturally remain great sportsmen. “Our activity requires a certain physical form. We usually do a lot of sports. Running and also team sports such as football and handball. This race is also a way of showing human strength and group cohesion.
