Completed since last December, the transfer of Thiago Almada to Atlanta United is finally official. The playmaker from Vélez Sarsfield has committed until December 2025 with the American franchise, which spent 16 million dollars (about 14 million euros) to secure the services of the Argentine international espoirs. That’s the biggest incoming transfer in MLS history.
Most expensive transfers in MLS history:
1. Thiago Almada – Atlanta United – $16m
2. Pity Martinez – Atlanta United – $15.5m
3. Ezequiel Barco – Atlanta United – $15m
4. Brenner – FC Cincinnati – $13m
5. Rodolfo Pizarro – Inter Miami – $12m
6. Luiz Araujo – Atlanta United – $12m— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) February 9, 2022
Author of 24 goals and 11 assists in 100 games played with Vélez, Thiago Almada had been courted a year ago by the OM of Pablo Longoria, even before the arrival of Jorge Sampaoli. It is finally in MLS that the promising young player will continue his career, he who has already made it known that he dreamed of playing next in Europe.
