Recovered from Corona: “It’s not the black plague”

“That should never have happened”

The first symptoms were already evident on the return trip from a skiing holiday. Irritating cough, extreme headache, high temperature. It was only seven days later that Michael Renk and his wife were certain that they had been infected with the corona virus. And not just anywhere, but in the Corona hotspot in St. Anton am Arlberg, just 13 kilometers from Ischgl. They were one of the last to leave St. Anton before the quarantine was imposed on March 13. “We left at 11 a.m. and everything was closed at 2 p.m. If it hadn’t turned out, we would have had to stay there for six weeks, ”says the 53-year-old from Vienna.

As the process progressed, the symptoms got worse. Renk was particularly concerned about the lungs. The pulmonologist prescribed medication for him, but it made him worse. “I was afraid that it would get worse and worse and that I would have to go to the intensive care unit.” Like his friend, who was also in St. Anton. “He had to be ventilated and still has shadows on his lungs,” says Renk, who is now completely healthy again.

Serious allegations

The 53-year-old makes serious accusations to politicians and authorities. “When the responsible regional council said on television that everything had been done correctly, I was in very bad shape. I would have loved to have thrown something on the TV. ”Because when ski operations were closed in Ischgl, the holidaymakers switched to St. Anton. “That should not have happened.”
