The world’s largest central banks are considering issuing their own digital currencies. They react to the transfer of payments to the Internet, the general flourishing of cryptocurrencies and also to the plan of the American technology company Facebook to have its own virtual currency. Representatives of the seven central banks, with the assistance of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), agreed last week on the principles of operation of such currency.
