They will launch a soft loan to renew the taxi fleet in San Juan

The increase in provincial tourism, the increase in auto parts, the increase in fuel and many other situations served as arguments for San Juan taxi drivers to push for a benefit that would be launched this week. It’s about a subsidized credit therefore they can change vehicles for about 0 km.

I already told this medium Walter Ferriowner of Union of Taxi Drivers to Zonda Diario last year: “there are some taxi drivers which unfortunately run in some scrap and every time they break they have to go into debt to get them going because otherwise they can’t work”. This 2023, what they expected will finally come and this week the Governor would announce the credit that is given after an agreement with the province’s dealers.

In a first round, the beneficiaries will be “Taxi drivers who have their own license with their own car and whose model is expiring and those who do not have one can also enter”Ferreri explained. This first batch of credits will go to “170 vehicles and it’s a multi-brand deal”adds the trade unionist.

Ferreri specifies that the credits are “For 120 months with a fund from the Ministry of Productive Activities like the one given to traders and producers. They are very subsidized loans to be able to change the fleet and receive all the tourism that is entering the province in good conditions, something never seen before. The interest rate is 30% per annum, if we divide it by month it is very low”.

What will the purchase of km 0 be like?

Ferreri underlines that “the best way to have a vehicle is through a savings plan because there is no stock. For this, what has been agreed is that the carriers will have priority and will agree on the agreed deliveries at 3 , 6, 9 and 12 months. In the meantime, they will pay a very low fee which will be of the order of 30,000 or 32,000 pesos”.

When is it announced and for how long?

Ferreri says everything is ready. “I think it will be announced early this week because all parties have already agreed. They still have to transfer the money to the production ministry.”
Furthermore, he stresses that this credit that will be announced “will be sustainable over time. The idea is that it is renewed every year and a delivery of 200 new vehicles is expected per year. San Juan therefore intends to play a very important role”.

What happened to electric vehicles?

The Union of Taxi Drivers’ idea was for the government to make an agreement with the Coradir company, which manufactures the Tito electric car in San Luis and which recently launched its version of the motorized Tito, much appreciated by Ferreri and his union to use it as a taxi. They point out that this version is more powerful, faster and bigger. But the main aspect they see is the cost, since, in terms of money, they believe that for 100 pesos they can fully charge it since it has a slow charge, with the advantage of being able to plug into any outlet in the house.
The agreement has not yet been reached, but Ferreri anticipates that it won’t be long. However, in the current deal that was reportedly announced this week, there is an EV from another brand that will be available for taxi drivers to purchase for this subsidized loan.
