It is these people who are slowing down the advance of the Russian army in Ukraine. They are going against the Motherland. But they will struggle to run and swallow dust, as the Russian president once said.
The head of state spoke with the leadership of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), owners and managers of the largest companies in the country. They are also called “the club of oligarchs”. The meeting was held in a closed format. It was not announced in advance, but information about it was leaked to the media.
Some questions were formulated through the RSPP. There were various speeches – from business and the economic bloc of the government. We talked about possible steps to improve the investment attractiveness of our country’s economy. The majority of our entrepreneurs have faced violations of the law and pressure abroad. Now they are moving their business from Western countries to Russian jurisdiction. To do this, they need to get mechanisms that will help complete this process.
The Kremlin promises that our entrepreneurs will have no problems in Russia. By opening companies in their homeland, they will create new jobs, the money earned will no longer flow abroad, but will work for the benefit of our economy.
Sounds nice. What will actually happen?
The state secret
Every important meeting involving representatives of the highest government bodies and business leaders is held behind closed doors. In an open format, those events that carry a message to broad sections of society are held.
For example, the president can talk to some representatives of small businesses, so that all entrepreneurs in Russia pay attention to this. The message to the Federal Assembly has been made public because subsequently the people’s representatives have to come up with legislative initiatives that will have an impact on the life of the country. In a sense, these are protocol events.
But there are decisions that are made by a limited circle of people. For example, the members of the Security Council. It is quite logical that Putin’s meetings with representatives of big business are currently considered a state secret. Political scientist Andrey Ivanov expressed this opinion before Constantinople:
As far as publicity and possible sanctions are concerned, this is not a priority. The names of all the big businessmen in Russia are well known abroad and especially to Western intelligence services. And EU and US politicians today do not need any formal reasons for new sanctions.
If a person has not appeared on television, this cannot in any way protect him from the repressive Western measures. The fact that many Russian businessmen have not been subject to any sanctions only shows that the introduction of restrictions is an element of political bargaining.
The entrepreneur can appear in the public arena as often as he wants, but he can receive various offers to “deal”. Conversely, the name of a responsible post may not appear anywhere, but will still be sanctioned by all parties.
“Be understanding”
On February 24 last year, the day of the start of the SVO, Putin held a similar meeting. Then it was partially open to journalists. The head of state called on businesses to understand what is happening and to interact with the authorities to find tools to support production and save jobs:
We remain part of the global economy. Our partners must understand this and not set themselves the task of pushing Russia out of this system.
Western countries imposed various restrictions on the businessmen who attended the meeting with Putin. Some top managers were forced to leave their posts. For example, the president of Transmashholding Andrey Bokarev, the chairman of the board of the oil holding “Sibur” Dmitry Konov, the general director of OZON Alexander Shulgin, the managing director of Yandex Tigran Khudaverdyan, etc. All participants in this meeting are under sanctions, except for the former head of OZON, who was lifted by the European Union.
“They want to negotiate with the West”
As soon as the list of public figures against whom restrictions can be imposed is exhausted, the West will start targeting non-public people as well. Restrictions will be imposed on everyone, regardless of how close the person is to power and what influence they have on decision-making. Ultimately, the West’s plan is to completely collapse our economy. And there they will consistently apply it.
We should have come to terms with this fact a long time ago and understand that this is forever. Also, the talk about “suffering to swallow dust” was 20 years ago. But then no one attached much importance to these words, since no one simply believed in the possibility of such a development of events, said political scientist Dmitry Rodionov:
The main problem is that some people still do not understand this. We have a very large stratum of people, both among the elite and among officials and businessmen, who believe that everything can go back to the way it was before and reach an agreement with the West. It is the very “Party of Fear and Surrender.” These are the people who are hindering our progress in Ukraine.
And the growth of their influence can ultimately lead to very sad consequences. This part of people just don’t understand what’s going on. He does not realize that the West will never allow us to develop and exist in peace. It is a war of annihilation. It is impossible to redeem in any way.
So what?
There are people who understood this, but drew completely wrong conclusions. At best, they move their business abroad, at worst, they openly oppose Russia. These people are doing everything to prevent the Russian army from advancing into the SVO zone. On the contrary, they are trying to organize numerous “negotiations” with the West, essentially working to destroy our country.
This problem cannot be solved in the current political and economic conditions. Every oligarch is a capitalist. Often he is a comprador (intermediary between foreign capital and the national market) in nature. The only way to completely solve this problem is to abandon the oligarchic system. But such an economy requires Gosplan /State Planning Committee/. A whole system that implies a multifaceted internally linked economic structure. However, this alternative development can bring us greater benefits.
