They will demand medicines for HC in the street

The crisis reaches the bottom of the “Ignacio Morones Prieto” Central Hospital. Medical members of the Professional Association of Doctors of the Central Hospital “Dr. Ignacio Morones Prieto”, announced a peaceful demonstration at the Francisco González Bocanegra roundabout, to demand that the Government provide them with the supplies to continue carrying out their work, in the face of serious neglect for example cancer patients and people with various diseases.

Doctors sent a letter headed to the President of the Republic Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in which they announced their work under protest, because since 1946 they had never suffered a shortage of medicines or supplies until last year, when the assets of the hospital were transferred to the Federal government.

In the letter they denounced that they have 39 patients who require urgent attention for oncological conditions, such as breast cancer, and they have not received their chemotherapy since last January 18.

Through a notice signed by doctors Francisco Javier Lara Guevara, Marco Vinicio González Rubio and Luis Meave Guriérrez Mendoza, on behalf of the medical and nursing staff, they explained that the government itself has plunged the hospital into a deep crisis of health supplies and unprecedented economic, and the medical personnel have been working for months under intolerable circumstances, due to the lack of resources and adequate and necessary supplies to treat patients with the promptness, quality and safety they deserve.

They explain that it cannot be tolerated that a hospital that has enjoyed a reputation for quality and highly specialized services, is now in collapse due to the lack of resources and supplies, medicines, medical equipment and the minimum necessary to provide the service to patients and the community in general, the latter the most affected, because doctors struggle even to provide the least basic care.

They affirm that their medical work has become a committed activity and susceptible to claims, due to the scarce resources available to carry out the professional activity, in addition to the ethical and moral burden of the task, in the face of external factors such as poor management government, its indolence and irresponsibility in the face of the magnitude of the situation.

The doctors demanded a prompt and favorable solution to the demands, and demanded that it be permanent and firm to restore quality service in the hospital and to reinstate in justice and legality the rights of its medical workers.
