They almost left with a real nest egg, but the police stopped them in time. Two men in their thirties were arrested on the night of June 24, 2022 at Petite-Forêt (North). They were found with jewelry, gold coins and various objects stolen from a house whose owner had died.
They were interested in the houses of the Prévert district
Friday, June 24 around 2:45 am, the Bac (anti-crime brigade) patrols the streets of Petite-Forêt, not far from Valenciennes. The officials then spot three individuals – two men and a woman – who are interested in the houses in the Prévert district. Faced with this suspicious behavior, they decide to set up discreet surveillance.
The police then see the two men entering an empty house. The woman keeps watch while waiting. Then, they are seen coming out of the home with “a large object and a white bag”, indicates a police source.
A few moments later, the individuals are again seen entering a dwelling located rue Henri Barbusse. This time, the police decide to control them. In the white bag, are found “jewellery, Louis d’or and various objects identified as belonging to the owner of the first house”, specifies the police. But after verification, the property is declared deceased.
The two men, aged 35 and 36, were taken into custody for burglary in a meeting. They will soon be summoned to court.
