The World Health Organization records alcohol consumption in each country in liters of pure alcohol for beer, wine, spirits and other alcoholic beverages.
The world average consumption is 6.18 liters, with a very high concentration of higher consumption in Europe.
These are the TOP 10 countries with the highest alcohol consumption (in liters of pure alcohol per capita):

Interestingly, most of them are European countries.
Data show that Bulgaria drinks an average of 12.46 liters per year per capita. In North Macedonia, an average of 6.43 liters are drunk per year per capita. According to this statistic, Macedonian men drink 10.36 liters compared to women who drink 2.54 liters.
Among the countries in the region, the most alcohol is drunk in Montenegro (12.24), Slovenia (12.11), Greece (10.5), Serbia (8.85), Croatia (8.73), Bosnia and Herzegovina ( 7.81) and Albania (6.82). .
Somalia, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Mauritania and Saudi Arabia drink the least amount of alcohol in the world, i.e. they don’t drink it at all.
