They rule out the impact in Baja California of the movement against vaccines | Forward Valley

MEXICALI — Due to the presence of anti-vaccine movements in the world, the State Head of Epidemiology, Óscar Efrén Zazueta Fierro, ruled out that these ideologies cause a resurgence of eradicated diseases in the state and in the country.

He stressed that the anti-vaccine movement has had a strong impact on the application of vaccines, specifically on the issue of COVID, it is estimated that approximately 15 percent of Baja Californians did not want to get the vaccine, for safety and effectiveness reasons.

He mentioned that more than a year after the massive vaccination campaign, there is enough evidence to say that the vaccine is effective and safe, as well as the rest of the vaccines.

COVID-19 OUTLOOK

He pointed out that in the update of COVID-19 cases at the end of March 13, fortunately the confirmed cases fell to 22, of which Tijuana holds 13, followed by the state capital with 6, San Quintín with 2 cases and Ensenada 1. It should be noted that no deaths from this disease were recorded.

In the last 24 hours, 299 active cases were reported; 95 from Tijuana; 83 Ensenada, 79 Mexicali, 30 San Quintin, 6 Tecate, 5 Rosarito and 1 San Felipe.

For his part, the Head of the Evaluation and Monitoring Unit, Néstor Saúl Hernández Milán, mentioned that hospital occupation in COVID cases in the Ministry of Health reports 10.67 percent and in IMSS 9.52 percent; likewise, general assistance in SSA is 54.25 percent and IMSS 55.15 percent.

Of the total of 299 active cases, 263 are treated on an outpatient basis, 27 hospitalized patients and 9 require mechanical ventilation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Baja California has accumulated 130,838 cases of COVID-19; the municipality of Tijuana sustains 52 thousand 151, in Mexicali 45 thousand 615, in Ensenada 18 thousand 798, San Quintín 4 thousand 468, Tecate 4 thousand 724, Rosarito 3 thousand 838 and San Felipe 1 thousand 244. In the accumulated deaths there is a total of 12 thousand 007. It is important to highlight that 118 thousand 370 patients have recovered.
