Those responsible for the musical legacy of Michael Jackson remove three songs from a posthumous album
The three songs appeared on an album released in 2010
Streaming services have removed three Michael Jackson songs after persistent claims that they have fake voices. The songs: Monster, Keep Your Head Up and Breaking News appeared on Michael Jackson’s posthumous 2010 compilation album. They have since been the subject of a court case brought by a fan, who claims the vocals are from a session singer and not Jackson himself.
Sony Music and the entity responsible for Jackson’s estate they stated that their removal from streaming sites had nothing to do with with its authenticity. In a statement, they described the move as “the simplest and best way to get beyond the conversation associated with these tracks once and for all.” The statement went on to say that: “The focus remains where it belongs: on exciting new and existing projects that celebrate the legacy of Michael Jackson,” including the Broadway musical MJ and a recently announced biopic.
The posted message ended by warning that “The remaining tracks on the album remain available. Nothing should be read in this action about the authenticity of the prints; It’s just time to move beyond the distraction that surrounds you.”
