“They really treat you as a maid” – The Daily Standard

A large part of the healthcare staff indicates that they are overloaded during the corona crisis. Some are completely exhausted, both physically and mentally, and an applause action is therefore thrown into the wrong throat of health care workers. This is because they rather hope for structural reward instead of symbolic politics. And the worst is not even over: many care tasks have been postponed because the virus had priority, all these ‘secondary’ tasks now have to be made up quickly.

A survey of 6,000 healthcare workers shows that the corona crisis was too severe for many people. Many people want to work less in the future, or even look for another job. This is a worrying development, as there is a significant shortage of health personnel for longer.

“Many nurses had to assist in intensive care during the time of corona, and because the other care was interrupted, a lot of work has been left to do, which still has to be done. The crowds are not over yet. ”

The applause campaign of March 17 gives double feeling to half of the people. Of course they think it is fantastic that people appreciate their work, but all those overtime and not exactly high wages do not really make the health care workers feel good. They also want to be economically rewarded.

The anger is in some good, they think that politics all say very nice words, but in fact do not make the situation of health workers better.

“I think that a bonus and a salary increase is the least that can be done for our staff!” Argues a caretaker from Limburg. “What do you think of the health workers who have become seriously ill and even died due to corona and the risk of infection themselves?”
