They organize a music and arts festival in Granada carried out “one hundred percent” by women

GRANADA, March 8. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Palace of Quinta Alegre will host this Saturday, March 12, the first music and arts festival carried out “one hundred percent” by women in Granada, organized by the City Council in collaboration with the Reviving the Sugar Factory Platform, within the activities planned for commemorate in the city on March 8, International Women’s Day.

As reported by the City Council in a press release, it will offer more than eleven hours of music and activities in “a historic day” and with the common axis that “all are carried out entirely by women.”

“It is a one hundred percent feminine technical and artistic proposal with the mission of making visible and distinguishing the work of women in the world of music both in front of and behind the stage: singers, instrumentalists, technicians, composers… together with female exponents of mural art, dance, painters” or poets, explained the Councilor for Equality of Granada, Ana Muñoz.

Amparo Sánchez, Carmencita Calavera, Sara Curruchich or La Mari, all accompanied by Banda Futura, will be the stars of the marathon day of concerts. Joining them on decks will be DJs Jihan, Loba, Jutta, Kala, Zyba, Luna, Morocha, Atempo, Hafa, Nita Deframe and Mobox; and you can also enjoy the batucada of Bloco Yemanjá and the dance of Zoila Martín and her students.

Women are very present in the musical and cultural universe, and this festival wants to be a celebration, a festive day in which we enjoy a lot, but also an opportunity to claim our role in this and in all professional sectors”, he pointed out Munoz.

The singer and composer Amparo Sánchez, the great architect of this festival, has pointed out that “in the big concerts and festivals, the presence of women ranges from two to six percent. It is a men’s industry where women have a lot of effort and a lot of enthusiasm to show our projects, be visible and earn the same as them in the same conditions”.

Faced with this reality, ‘Granada 100% Mujer’ will bring together “nearly a hundred women including photographers, producers, directors, journalists, singers, instrumentalists, technicians, dancers, painters, graffiti artists, poets, waitresses and volunteers who “will be visible to girls, young people and women and for the children, young people and men who come to this festival”.

It will also have a purple point for the prevention and awareness of gender violence. It will be the first time that an event of these characteristics has a space of these characteristics and the intention of the City Council, according to the mayor of Equality, is that from now on all major cultural events reserve a place for it.
