77 years old. French aquanaut. Died with the crew of the submersible Titan, he was a submariner who became a specialist in deep-sea diving and maritime archaeology. Originally from Haute-Savoie, this seabed explorer spent the first part of his career as a naval officer. Commander of the group of clearance divers in Cherbourg, he was then a submarine pilot in the Undersea Intervention Group of the French Navy. He devoted himself to the excavation of several wrecks within an association, the Naval Archaeological Research Group. The real turning point in his career came in 1986, when he became responsible for Ifremer’s deep intervention submarines. As early as 1987, Paul-Henri Nargeolet rubbed shoulders with the wreck of the Titanic aboard the French submarine Nautile and carried out, over the years, dozens of dives having notably enabled the recovery of several hundred objects. In 2007, he was appointed research program director for RMS Titanic/Phoenix International, which owns the wreck.

YSABELLE LACAMP

68 years old. Writer and actress. Author of best-selling novels, including The Dragon’s Kiss (Lattes, 1986). She appears in several films at the cinema, notably alongside Jean-Paul Belmondo in The misfit, by Jacques Deray (1983).

CLAUDE BARZOTTI

69 years old. Belgian singer. He enjoyed success with the hits “Madame” in 1981 and “Le Rital” in 1983.

FREDERIC FORREST

86 years old. American actor. Known for several roles in films by Francis Ford Coppola, he notably played the role of Jay “Chef” Hicks in Apocalypse Now. In 1980, he was nominated for an Oscar in the category “best actor in a supporting role” for his interpretation of Huston Dyer in The Rose, by Mark Rydell, a film in which he co-starred Bette Midler.

CHANTAL PERRICHON

77 years old. Psychologist. President of the League against road violence from 2002 to 2022.

GABRIELE SCHNAUT

72 years old. German soprano. She took her first steps in 1977 at the Bayreuth Festival, in the famous Ring directed by Patrice Chéreau and directed by Boulez, where she was Waltraute and the Second Norn.

JOHN GOODENOUGH

100 years. American physicist. One of the fathers of the rechargeable battery, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2019.
