NEW YORK – Authorities found a stolen ATM in the middle of a Suffolk County street, and police are trying to find out who is responsible.
Fourth Precinct Police officers responded to a call from a transformer on the road from Ronkonkoma Avenue to Hillcrest Street in Lake Ronkonkoma at about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.
However, once they reached the scene, they found an ATM that had been stolen from a Capital One bank located at 131 Portion Road in Ronkonkoma.
Investigators believe the ATM was dragged by a vehicle with a chain and came loose.
Anyone with information about the theft should call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.
