They estimate that 80% of those over 18 will be vaccinated at the end of the month

Two days ago, Rosario celebrated the application of the 500 thousandth vaccine with an act in the vaccination center installed in the former Rural Society. The plans now are to advance with the inoculation of another 250 thousand people; to an average of 12 thousand vaccines applied per day in the city, the mathematical calculation closes.

“Currently we are with a vaccination percentage of 68 percent, therefore, if we continue to maintain that rhythm, we will achieve an important level of protection in the population, “said the head of the municipality’s Health Promotion and Care area, Néstor Galván.

This long weekend, while the people of Rosario make plans to enjoy the holiday and take advantage of the good weather, the health personnel who participate in the vaccination operation will continue working. Between Friday and Sunday the plan was to finish inoculating those over 35, to start next week with people between 34 and 30 years old.

Galván warned that it is essential to maintain the arrival of large quantities of vaccines to the country, as happened throughout the past month, to advance immunization programs. In this sense, the announcements about the possibility of purchasing new vaccines and the national production of Sputnik V are encouraging.

With the provision of vaccines that seems assured, the effort of health officials is focused on going out and looking for the population that does not refuse to be vaccinated but could not access the registry that grants shifts to receive the doses and, in parallel, convince the younger population of the importance of inoculation.

At this point, the official highlighted the work of the health centers that made it possible to locate about 12 thousand people, elderly or with comorbidities, who were not registered to receive the vaccine. Each of these patients was searched “house to house” to receive their doses.

He also relied on the adherence of young people to the campaign. “It is true that this is a population that is not at such risk of developing serious forms of the disease, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that many young patients are being vaccinated, as well as pregnant women,” he said and recalled that, in both In these cases, the three vaccines that are being administered have been shown to be safe.

“It is essential that young people without comorbidities are vaccinated because the main function of vaccination is to achieve collective protection. For this reason, the more people are vaccinated, there is less chance that the virus will circulate ”, he pointed out, although he clarified that in order to produce a collective barrier to the circulation of the virus, the population must have its full two-dose scheme.

In this way, it will be possible to prevent the community circulation of the virus and return to the first moments of the pandemic, when health agents had the operational capacity to detect cases early, isolate their contacts and cut the chain of infections. A reality that still seems very far away.

Until then, he said, we must reinforce the measures of distancing, ventilation, use of chinstrap and hand washing. In this way, time can be gained to advance vaccination and delay the arrival of new variants of the virus that may be more contagious or violate the immunity of the vaccine.

Perotti: “No one has to be left without registering”

Governor Omar Perotti took advantage of the act for Independence Day to summon the young population to join the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus. “We already have 1,600,000 vaccinated, we need no one to be left without registering,” he said.

When taking stock of the scope of the vaccination campaign in the province, the governor highlighted the task of health professionals. “We have a very good progress in the province and we are already reaching the population of 30 years,” he considered.

Therefore, he asked the youngest to “be attentive” because at any moment they will begin to summon them to receive the first dose. “The vaccine is not that far away, you have to sign up,” he insisted.
