As a result of the facts known in recent days in the case of Ámbar Cornejo, deputies from Chile Vamos officiated at the Ministry of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, to urge the project that proposes that those convicted of crimes of rape and serious acts cannot access parole benefits.
The initiative was presented in July 2019 by the deputy RN Sofía Cid, and was endorsed by parliamentarians from different banks.
“We need that not even a person convicted of this type of crime can have the benefit of parole. We cannot allow new victims to exist; for Ámbar, Catalina, Marina and Sussy … and the women of our country,” said Sofía Cid.
For her part, Catalina del Real (RN) assured: “It is very important that we remove this project later. We must promote it, because we do not want more murderers, more loose rapists, or more cases like Ámbar.”
In the same terms, Deputy Érika Olivara added that “knowing that the Executive has also promised to ensure that those convicted of femicides cannot access the benefit of serving a sentence outside of jail. We call for the case of minors. Everything the State has failed him, we need to put a strong hand “.
