An additional dose of coronavirus vaccine, now popularly called a booster, is likely to be required each year. This opinion was expressed by the President of the World Medical Union Frank Ulrich Montgomery in an interview published in the newspapers of the German group Funke.
“The booster dose of the vaccine improves the immune system. But we don’t know exactly how long the pandemic will last. Maybe the vaccine should be given every year,” the doctor said.
Montgomery supported the introduction of green vaccination certificates with a validity period that will expire at some point if the citizen does not undergo revaccination in time.
The first coronavirus vaccines were given in Germany in December last year. Citizens who have received them still have valid certificates.
