They apply 11 thousand 714 vaccines to infants in Baja California – La Voz de la Frontera

The first day of childhood vaccination concluded yesterday in Mexicali and San Felipe with the application of 4,740 doses and 11,714 throughout the State.

In the urban area, Plaza Sendero registered the greatest influx, placing 1,810 doses there, followed by Plaza Cachanilla with 1,300 biologicals.

950 boys and girls attended Macro Plaza Del Valle and another 540 were vaccinated in Ciudad Guadalupe Victoria.

In the port of San Felipe the day closed with 140 doses applied.

In Mexicali, the child population in the age range of 5 to 11 years began to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in mass sessions inside shopping centers due to high temperatures.

At dawn, some parents began to line up outside Cachanilla, Sendero and Macro Plaza del Valle squares to secure a place for their children.

María Elena Espinoza came with her 6 and 10-year-old children and said she was confident in the vaccine that the rest of the family members had already received.

“It was something we expected and asked for, we do trust the vaccine.”

Other parents stated that although there was the possibility of looking for the biological in the United States, they preferred to wait until it was available on this side of the border.

Laura Andrea López Cruz, head of the Health Services Jurisdiction, indicated that in a first phase the goal is to apply 15,000 vaccines to the child population of Mexicali.

“Children are safe with this Pfizer biological, it is a special dose for their age range.”

The state official anticipated that the vaccination days will depend on the influx that is being registered and also indicated that more biologicals will arrive in the coming weeks.

“Let the population know that we are going to be aware of the need that arises and there will be vaccines for everyone.”

The child population had not been included in the national vaccination strategy despite the fact that it was also affected by Covid-19.

According to figures from the Ministry of Health, there are around 300,000 boys and girls in Baja California between the ages of 5 and 11.
